June 21, 22 in New York City
On this website you will find information about George Gurdjieff, his spiritual teachings on man's potential and how to realize it, his core teaching of awakening through movement structures called The Sacred Dances, and workshop information.
Who is the workshop for? The workshops in June are for everyone who is interested in self exploration, in particular through movement. This is not a workshop for dancers only, although dancers will find a new realm of experience in the work. It is a movement group, and movement meditation. No previous dance experience is needed, and although the structures taught are exact, the point of the work is not better performance or form of any kind. If you find yourself attracted to this work but are not sure if you will be able to learn the movements, don't worry. The benefits come whether or not the movements are "performed correctly" or not. The point of the work is your consciousness and your experience of yourself expanding, deepening, revealing more options and potentials. The video below gives an idea of the work, but it's good to know much of the footage was of performance after a 30 day intensive, not a weekend workshop. It is offered for an introduction only to the vibration of the work. Phone with questions and concerns 646 257 3984.

"Given very precisely by Gurdjieff as a powerful tool for growth, the practice of the movements creates exceptional conditions for transforming the body ’Äì machine so that the forces of intelligence, heart, and action can freely expand. This happens through the development of a certain quality of attention and relaxation."
Amiyo Devienne is one of the foremost teachers of the Gurdjieff Sacred Movements in the world today. She travels the world (schedule) giving workshops in this method, and will be coming to the US in June 2008 for her third tour.

"The 3 elements of human nature are always participating in the movements: The movements of our body, our heart, our mind are brought in a harmonic exchange with each other, in a certain common vibration."

June 21, 22, New York City wkshp at Joffrey Ballet School, details and registration.
Teacher: Amiyo Devienne, bio.
Workshop: Included in the workshops is intensive practice of the dances created by Gurdjieff himself as well as study of Gurfjieff's method called the Fourth Way. The combination of these Movements creates the possibility for the participant to experience an integration of body and no mind which is completely unique. There is no other movement technique or traching that challenges the participant in the same way as the Sacred Movement exercises.
Who can do it: All are welcome. This is not a workshop for dance professionals only, and is not a dance training as in learning dance techniques, although it involves very specific movements and requires some commitment from the participant. It is open for anyone with a desire for self exploration and growth through awareness and challenging the mind/personality structure. It uses movement techniques to break through the habitual structures of throught and feeling, but does not have performance as a goal.
